If you thought they actually showed the reality when ‘Ranbir Kapoor’ and ‘Kankana SenSharma’ had a ball while redesigning and setting up the apartment in ‘Wake Up Sid’, you are absolutely wrong.

The entire process is utterly tiresome accompanied by the off and on backchats with Mom regarding how careless you are and how less you work for the house and the people. Well I should also mention that the process might take away your twelve year old ‘Cross’ that you have grown up praying to. Your face wash and shampoo can disappear just like that and suddenly the windows and doors would start to reflect color that you have forever hated.

It would take you a LOT of ‘lyad' overcoming toxic dose to try and get the room back into its original shape. Finally just when you would start to think that the nightmare is over, Bazinga! The same mess would be seen all over the house. At times you would reconsider the color blindness test for the deciders but then, you would already be so tired with everything that the coverless bed having a coil burnt fan right above would seem like heaven. Crash.

But the whole point is that there are no pizza party and splashing of colors involved in the process like they showed in the movie. Also, you are NOT allowed to put back those neon stars back to the ceiling like they were before the entire hoopla. You are also not allowed to stick the posters back to the walls. ‘No Cello tapes’ Aunty Acid would tell you and you would be too irritated for rebellion. In just a day, the hut, ‘Shreedhar Acharya’ formula, names and all the childhood tidbits on the walls would vanish.

The newly painted room and disorganized stuff all over can also make you write such shit.
While. Smiling wide with you. And

Disclaimer:
1. I owe no explanation to anyone
2.If this post makes no sense to you, you have a wonderful life. Congratulations.
3. If this post makes sense to you, *highfive*
4.If this post offends you, I am genuinely not sorry.

You would know that summers are here when everyone around is on a temper trip through the heated lanes back and forth.

Incident 1:
Grey runs towards the painter to charge for injustice, fully aware of the fact that free will of the painter cannot be questioned. Grey does not care. All that Grey knows is the fact that nobody uses Grey to color dominance. The world looked at this new shade of Grey with disbelief and Grey knows it well but Grey’s pride has been tickled and that is all that was prominent amidst the self made rules of not losing cool. And at that moment, consequences adamantly ceased to matter.
AND
Boom!

Incident 2:
Dinner asked Brunch if some help can be expected and Brunch declined. There were Breakfast and Lunch who required answers and explanations from Brunch and selecting or helping Dinner was out of the known lines. Dinner has the midnight snack as guide and together they blamed Brunch out and out. Dinner expected friendship and Brunch could not invite troubled waters. Nobody understood the point of the other and voids filled with cold radiance.
AND
 Boom!

Incident 3:
Tyson placed ice on top of fire. Ice started to melt and fire started fuming. Fire demanded explanations and ice obstinately declined any. Fire let out sparks which affected the little large ego of ice. Earth stopped for a moment as ice started to fume away as well. The fumes met to cause discomfort. Tyson let out a suggestion here and a suggestion there.
AND
Boom!

Incident 4:
All the super heroes were out for a trip down the countryside. From somewhere came the joker and provoked Superman. While the argument started to get heated, the joker challenged the mask less batman. Spiderman and Candyman rushed in to help but had difficulty in understanding the gibberish. Our heroes took the countryside by storm while men looked at them in wonder. The joker continued with offensive remarks and got on their nerves. Batman went ahead unarmed with thunder voice and scared everyone around but the joker who said ‘Why so serious?’
AND
Boom!

Incident 5:
Involvement of Professor Umbridge gives me so jeero enthu.

Incident 6:
Lyadh glides on.

So this post ends.
And the oh-so-worshipped mortal, here is all that you have missed.
Enough entertainment?
:D

There was once a time when my sister took pride in drawing the margins of my copy. I still get to decide over which clothes she should or should not buy. Net is my necessity and her luxury. When I need the remote, I need the remote irrespective of which dumb favorite serial of my sister is on air.  All of these happen with very little rebellion from her side. And when I say little, I mean very little.

So,
There is this thing about idolizing elder brothers and sisters.
One is just proud of them, for no specific reason whatsoever.
And then,
Growing up happens.

You run after a bus. Knowing quite well that you wont get it. But. You run. And. Miss it.

You run after a bus. Knowing quite well that you wont get it. But. You run. You get it. And. You realize it was a wrong bus after all.

You start walking. A bus stops. And. Goes away.

You keep on walking.

And

Strawberry Fields Forever

This ad!
Although it talks of giving without letting the world know.

I could not help but admire all the men for their amazing chivalry. Last time we visited KFC, Sir pointed at this middle aged couple where the woman got up to bring the food while the man did not move his lazy bum at all. Sir was not very pleased with the whole idea and there Olivia pointed how Sir too thinks like a girl.

The whole point is, no matter how much we talk of feminism and equality and girls kicking the moon and what not! Every girl wants to be taken care of. When someone calls you Ma’am or asks you to order first or pays your bills, you actually feel nice.  The last point being true across all cast, class, creed, gender and tribe.

I have forever debated for feminism during school times. My take being, that the sun rises in the east is a fact. And since it is a fact, it is not questioned and debated about. Which is not the case with men and women being different or same? Men and women are definitely not equal, neither mentally nor physically. Their emotional quotient is way different as well. Had the question being, if anyone deserves less than the other, the answers would have been completely different.

The post is going haywire for the simple fact that it never had a point. I am just amazed by the advertisement. I am amazed how rarely I find such men of honor. Just the other night I noticed the next door neighbor carrying his three year old son from one room to the other by his leg. This followed by bashing him up. We were all sorry for this senior for his breakup but later we heard how he called the girl names in public for the entire episode. And there also is this classmate who dumped a girl for caste issues which seemed oh so important after having the initial fun phase.

Everybody has loved Hector when he said ‘Honor the Gods, Love your woman and defend your country’
And also when Helen said ‘I don’t want a hero my love, I want a man I can grow old with’

Can I not have a bit of both?
With a bit of ‘Will You...’
And they do call me a conditional bitch and extremely demanding. And the new term of the league is amar prochur ‘naak achhe’

Strawberry Fields Forever!

The quiet offer one day on street,
How happily she agreed.
To be THE one and let him lead.
She finally was swept off her feet.
For he was.

The sudden perks, the dedicated songs,
The memories weaved on nights long,
Complete surrender to the arms strong,
She just knew nothing was wrong.
For he seemed like.

Days later the little heart cried.
The bonds broke free that they had tied,
On his little romantic night so high,
Just for a while, the love had died.
For he is.

The Complete Man?

What happens when you have pacts with God?
What happens when you ignore your favorite butterscotch and select the Colgate-ish flavor?
What happens when you reach the neighborhood store and ignore the chocolate cakes  on display?
What happens when you overlook the week end 'jilipis' kept on the table?

You start eating unacceptable amount of the green packet of wonder everyday!
You start having 'chhaalaas' in the mouth, a lot of them, just like the ugly ones that they show on TV and stomach aches follow

Easier than it seems?

"Yet each man kills the thing he loves"

Each man? That would be too much of the pessimistic generalization. But yes, most, when the love becomes the rush of the past.

"By each let this be heard"

Isn't there enough of self guilt and mushy nostalgia already?

"Some do it with a bitter look"

This sadistic way to escape probably is the best in certain cases. To cling on with the uglier version of the otherwise lovely face that you have lived with, till, lets just say, yesterday?

"Some with a flattering word"

This requires planning, friendly advice and bitch trait.

"The coward does it with a kiss"

This be the lust or the kiss of death? Whichever way it is, Wilde knew it better and my version of it, well, lets just save it for some other day.

"The brave man with a sword"

End it, gallantly, with or without self pity or disgust.

Till then, lets keep the hope of a tomorrow with no forbidden fruit around, alive.

And then she asked me
'Do you write poems still?
Of rainbows and love
And golden crimson spring?'
I wish I could add.
The day you left, winter prevailed
And thorns have no stories of their own,
Don't dig too deep my dear
Over layers forgotten, lost and overgrown.

And then she asked me
"What has made you so quite?
You were never this way.
Today we met after so many years
And you have noting at all to say?"
I wish I could add.
The flower that once withers
Never cares to bloom again
For what I was and what I became
I have no one to blame.

And then she asked me
'Don't you remember me?
College buddies we were two'
I smiled and said, after all these years,
'Yes Sophie! I do'

Shady

Because every Bollywood movie has a second half
It is the same second half in which the heroine sobers down and wears mono colored Salwars :/

Kajol wore Salwar Kameez during the post heart break phase of her life in Kuch Kuch Hota Hain
Kareena did the same with more mundane and pastel shades in Jab We Met
Amisha Patel wore the Light colored Salwars after Hrittik died in Kaho Na Pyaar Hain
Katrina was all white and pretty in Salwar before she proposed in Jab Tak Hain Jaan

Moral: I saw all of these movies TODAY
And YES I need help
And
Good Girls wear Salwar?
Eh :/

And all Good Girls In Salwars are THIN
Do we not have enough things to worry about already?

Ah Okay I meant
Do you not have enough things to worry about already?

Happy Birthday

To the woman once said
"Never let your left hand know what your right hand has done"
which stands as one of the few things that I would always remember.

I wish I could wish her in person
I wish she still stayed at Beck Bagan
I wish I could call her today, sing the birthday song and have Why-Gokhale-Is-(NOT)-Better-Than Diocesan debates
I wish Damam was right here

And hence I will sing the song aloud
And will have extra chocolates
And will put on
And hope to see her again.
Sometime?

If You Care Enough For The Living

Someone said

How exactly are YOU, "Yes YOU" , going to STOP Rape??

What will be your exact contribution after going out on a candle light march??

Will you next time slap you friend who stares at a lady and says "WOW!! WHAT AN ASS"

Nope. You shall laugh it Off.

Why? Because he is your friend, and he was "Joking"

Well people have either been talking about Rape or about Rape (Till yesterday of course since today they already have Earthquake and the sudden Winter to talk about). And as Bilu rightly pointed out that nobody cared much about a recent rape case at a village of West Bengal but protesting for the media hyped one and Abhro said that the candles are not good enough to melt the hearts of the rapists, Olivia shouted saying that there is no point in walking a mile when we cannot even stand tall against the college misdoing.

I initially was extremely annoyed by the flood of copied facebook status messages and the black dot display pictures of those who virtual cared, virtually protested and virtually fought.

I was shaken by the incident, so was most of the people. But people overdid everything. So did the Government.

The Saturday afternoon plan got cancelled and I immediately asked everyone if they were free. People agreed and we were there to add on to the crowd. To be very honest, I was there to see how it really feels, if things really are the way they show in movies. That is quite a shameful thing though.

What I saw.
People clicked.
People got clicked.
People held candles and posed happily for facebook.

Sir and Sujoy rolled on laughing at a poster that said "Don't get raped"
I got irritated by a gang of students stopping at every possible place for group photos with candles and banners.

It is a shame that there is no stern rule against rape.
It is a shame that people who cares actually cares just for the camera.

But yes, there were people who actually shouted for justice.
There were people with moist eyes.
There were people who stood up against all the back tides.
There were people who were there without public announcements of their presence.
There was an entire generation together.
I saw Unity.
Whatever be the reason, people were there.
Together.
For a Cause (and WITH A CAUSE)

And as far as I am concerned, I am just happy that I was a part of it.
And the beautiful Damini or whatever your name is dearest,
God Bless!

Today I saw this picture.
And I bowed.
Virtually.
Again.
Just like You.

Shamefully Yours

"I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend."

A: But NO ONE talks to me like that
A: Get used to it.

Maa left for Chhattisgarh. The house looks and sounds and is empty.
The exams! Let's not talk about them. If you are about to say the same old things that I am sick and tired of hearing, please excuse me. You don't understand.
I wish Hirak had not mentioned the non eligibility to appear for placements once I flunk in Discrete.
The less talking and less laughing caused by the little bundle of pain at the end of my lower lip is not treating me well.
Things seem wonderfully distorted.

I do realize that I have started to NAG a LOT of late.
Ignore this if you may.

P.S I do not like empty houses. I do not like sleeping alone the day before exam. I admit the embarrassing truth that I need to sleep beside Maa so that I feel protected from the exam monster the day before.
P.P.S I so wish to sit for placements like everybody else around this time next time. I want to be lucky this time. One last time.

R.I.P.

9th of December, three days from today the city will go all vocal and moist about the AMRI fire mishap and that would mark the 365 and 1 day after I last prayed for Nana .

I have forever had a very sweet and diplomatic face towards most of the people around, at times, even against the strong urge to hit them right on their face (that I accept is a very bad quality), but Nana was someone I have grown up shouting at, and mostly, at non-funny situations. My fondest memories of childhood would include Nana taking me to the park every evening and buying me bhutta. The Durga Puja-s and “Roth”s were always passed getting all the pampering  from people all over the para with the same old “arre o toh tamal er bhaiji”. Everyone knew him. From purono para to ei para, people just know him as he would randomly help people with their luggage and shopping bags. Nana would take immense pride over getting to do small favors for me, especially when Maa or anyone else of the more normal ones of the family asked for it. The mentioning of the normal is absolutely intentional because the rest of the world secretly or openly thought that he was not one.

I have grown up watching him getting advised, being suggested, on what he will wear, on what he would eat, where he would go, when he would come, whom he should marry, how he should save and what not. Back in the days of old Amma-bari, I remember the alarm clock ringing at our room every morning when Baba would wake up to wake him up at 6 for his morning shift at the not-so-prestigious-office because every other place required ‘normal’ people. At around 7, Kaku would go and check of he actually went to work or bunked it like most of the days. When he came back at 12, I felt extremely happy to get back someone I could bully till Maa returns at night. Thus went my childhood with Nana picking me up even when there was a Maashi to do the needful every day after school from bus stand to home.

He would always say “taka chai taka?” and then bring out the only 25paise coin with a sad face and I would say “thak ota. Pore ota diye ekdin Phuchka khabo”. I always thought Nana was “Gorib” and therefore everyone helped him, because I always saw people paying for all of the things that he needed and hence, even the pochish poisha that he offered, in those days of childhood when I though 5takar coin< two 1 rupee coins, made me feel, made him sad. At the lunch hours, he would finish off his fish first before even touching the rice and then would have the rest of the normal members of the family offer their half to him. He loved food. He loved love. And he was loved.

I have grown up regretting the way I treated him. I always took him for granted. Planted a slap every now and then if he denied acting according my wish. I had been at my rude best for the first six years of my life when I treated him like a piece of shit, like someone who is absolutely not important, and most importantly, like someone who should be AT MY SERVICE, always. I can never forgive myself for all those summer nights and winter afternoons when I too was a part of the fun-making-gang non- advertently of his various foolish incidents. He on the other hand, would always be as sweet as one can be, to me. He did not let Maa scold me EVER. In case I have not mentioned, Nana was my Kaku.

He WAS, because he died on the 8th of December 2011 at AMRI, the day before the hospital was burnt down, almost. What happened to him and Why is a long story altogether but HE made winter all the more sad for me. It was today, just a year ago when Maa drove me all the way to AMRI at 1:50 am, the whole family waiting for news needed food and blanket. I must mention here that I avoid going to hospitals and they cause nausea. That night which followed my Physics semester exam was spent at the hospital because no one moved an inch towards home. Everyone cried, everyone prayed and I have never seen a sadder scene.
I have never seen my family so worried about money till those days last year when they went up to the extent of taking gold loans as an option after AMRI attached some XYZ machine to his body that charged 10lakhs per hour. Yes, per HOUR. There had been only hospital talks and money calculations and family fund discussions and tears since November last year and finally, 8th of December 2011, 5am in the morning, the news was delivered. The semester exam was due after some time that day itself. And thus, I could him see him last.

I miss him more than I can imagine missing someone. I miss him more than I miss Mejo-pishi who died a similar death. The sight of his son will give you a thousand deaths when he would blankly stare at Nana’s photo. Nana loved me more than he loved Habul; I knew this a matter of fact! There is a tinge of regret when I remember him today for all the times I did not value him. I wish I had kept one of those 25paise coins that he offered throughout the childhood days. The last time he told me, “Dekhish Guria toke biyete ami ki dei!” and I laughed. That was bhai fota last year. That also was the last time I saw him. I went to hospitals after that though but never ended up visiting his bed for my own selfish reasons.

But. Today. The same night.  ALMOST the same night. And. On most of the nights. I can at times hear him say.
TAKA CHAI TAKA?
